Cars have engines but it does not drive itself. Yet, it is commonplace to speak of “what drives you?” in a way that indicates that you may be driven but you are not the driver. So, the vehicle depends on the driver to show value. In the case of the car, the car does not have the choice of the driver. Do you decide what drives you?
It is not possible to do justice to the subject in but as few lines. I will, nevertheless, try to offer something on which you can ponder and refer back, as the need may be. The car was built with the relevant specifications to deliver a certain manageable output. Manageable here merely refers to the threshold performance it can deliver. Human beings were designed to endure and overcome obstacles, in various shapes and forms. While automobiles undergo tests until it passes to be driven on a public road, this is all supervised by qualified technicians. You are exposed to many people and different teachers as you progressed from infancy to childhood to adulthood. Your background, the coaches and teachers, your personality all play a role. One or more of these influences may be the driver. The completed automobile is a product of the manufacturing process. The completed human is actually also a product of your Creator but you allow, willingly or unwillingly, the modifications which influence you. In accessing the handbook and guide for you to “operate”, you will act on the manufacturer’s instructions and therein will be the driver. However, as mentioned, the multiple forces of influence will cause you to identify one or two as being the drivers in your life. But motor vehicles need to be serviced regularly. Likewise do human beings need servicing and this is where you ought to get closer to the guidelines of the Creator. The automobile’s performance is exploited by a good driver, and not all drivers of the same car will benefit equally. The human being performs best and his driven to his ultimate output by a driver that considers the manufacturers guide. While some performances may be of value without referring to the Creator’s guide, you may suffer, and benefits will be diminished instead of maximised.
You will do well to reflect on your life and what the important drivers may be. Turn to people that will enhance your life. Academics are important but it will be somewhat of a waste if the right person does not acquire the knowledge and qualifications. Life is about you, the best you can be as a person. It is about understanding the purpose of life.
