It has been a while since I took a walk all by myself. Life happens and we get busy and involved. There is one thing that I will do often enough and that is to take a walk by myself. Ah, there is a strong hint of a contradiction, I hear you say. I always mentally take a walk by myself so that I can explore my thinking. Thinking and reflecting set the tone for what follows after that in your life.

Some people prefer the quiet and others can “zone out” even in rowdy company. It does not really matter all that much but reflection is key. Strange that we always reflect our physical image combing our hair, adjusting our clothes and some who just love to look at their own beautiful faces. carry on! Yet, your disheveled hair will only create an image in someone else’s mind, but your key contribution, even it is only in you improved character, will create a far more lasting image which may be part of your legacy. This is done through reflection. The two ways of looking into the mirror is by our experiences of and with others and the gaining of beneficial knowledge after which we reflect and take the good, applying it to ourselves.

Someone said to me “but you are not perfect!”. Indeed, it is in striving to be the best I can be, deep thinking, meditating, reflecting play such a vital role in our lives. People follow others blindly without for a moment reflecting. In our imperfection we must seek the knowledge from that which is of a higher order. In your quiet walk you realise the noise out there. There is a chance that people will follow others into an abyss only because they have never taken a moment to think. They have not taken time to go for a walk, alone with their thoughts. But I realise it is not easy for everyone. This whole idea is a subject on its own.

Take the walk with me!
