The wind blew the seed and it landed in a strange but welcoming place. A little bit of rain fell, and the seed sprouted. At this point though, there was still no telling whether the seed will grow to its potential or die prematurely.
It is like this with relationships where the seed of love has been planted. The ideal conditions must be for the love to grow and take root. That is called relationships. It is to be understood that relationships differ from friendship to marital to family and thus the requirements will be different. The marital relationship is often the most sensitive one and requires extra nurturing. Just like when planting a seed, it takes patience. A good example of building a relationship is the female carrying the child in her womb for nine months. It is this relationship that makes the mother, unlike any other, feel more for her child. But in similar vein, in marriage, if both spouses do the nurturing, especially in the formative years, then the love, each for the other will be strong. It is in building, in caring, in the formative years that those habits and practices carry through, for the most part, to later on in life. These marriages will quickly rebound from difficult moments because the relationships have become strong.
It is easy to fall in love but what to do with it from then on is where many people struggle. The idea that love will conquer all can only be true if it is allowed to take root properly. Mere words of love, while good, are not necessarily enough to sustain relationships. Humans are, by their nature, in need of affection, of touch and of emotions. Thus, the little things that help are the embracing, the hugging and even the whisper in those tender moments.
In closing, food for thought: Relationships are based on love, but love does not need a relationship.
