Life has been hectic with hardly a moment of peace and quiet. Suddenly, the pause button was activated and lockdown was in progress. Stunned, you never saw this moment coming. And still you don’t. You live in two worlds, one of which is denial and the other is “out there”. You have deliberately not taken any time earlier to reflect. Now, that you have been given extra time, you spend your time wasting away.
This is the time to reflect. Firstly, by yourself. Then, call a meeting of your household and have a group assessment. You have to look at what your lives were before the lockdown. What changes were necessary but never effected. Consider, through proper research and self-evaluation, what possible changes society and the economy will you be presented to you. Then marry the changes that you thought were necessary before the break to the changes that you foresee after the break.
Jobs are being lost, income is being lost and a new social dynamic awaits you. Your thoughts cannot be driven by panic. Yet you will see panic all around you. It will be a whirlwind that will suck you in and take you to where you do not want to be, unless … unless you have looked after yourself, have the resolve to face challenges and make meaningful decisions. The lockdown is not a lockdown on your brain – at least it ought not be. The pause button has been pressed on your activities, not on your life (since the clock is still ticking on that) and not on your thoughts and mind.
The challenge is there for everyone. Those who had previously had coaches and mentors probably have a little bit of a head-start since they already had the ball rolling. Others have the ability to plan always and they are the few that is a cut above the rest. Things will not be great after this lockdown and pandemic. There will be some tough times. Most people will be caught in this deluge. The least you can do is to use the lockdown as a pause button, not merely as a holiday at home.
