I was walking down the road one day and suddenly I was surrounded by twenty men with evil intent. Brave I was and knew exactly how this would pan out. The first guy lunged at me. All I remember after that was waking up in hospital.

The story could have had a different twist but that was most likely only going to be in my imagination. It is true that for most people their greatest feats are in their minds. They have not tasted the sweetness of victory, of overpowering the negativity, within. They find excuses for the lack of progress in their lives let alone achievement. They are the world’s best armchair critics. They have good stories to tell but it’s mostly about others, their uncles and friends who have achieved. Yet within themselves there is a person capable of so much more.

The famous meme doing its rounds of the person who signed up for gym six months ago and has not yet seen any results. He says he will now have to go into the gym physically to find out why there are no results. Exactly the point, there will be no meaningful results unless you get up, get out there and take the appropriate action for progress. I myself, having been successful in my career, saw too many people who underachieved, too many in difficult relationship, many uncertain about their career development and most people being stressed. It is for this reason that I set out to call out those people by being available to them as a personal development manager and mentor. There are valid excuses, but there are solutions too. So which will you choose?

Remember one step forward is better than none. One step towards happiness and success is one step away of mediocrity and negativity. The choice is always yours and it’s your life, isn’t it?
