The crying baby has much control over the life of the mother. The baby’s personality, as she gets older, may yet reflect a quiet reserved baby, but in infancy her shrieking heart-wrenching cry shows more to a dominant character.

The mother largely understands the needs of the baby and responds, albeit at times with a sigh because of tiredness. Many people react like that throughout their lives. React like what? The child in the cradle cannot speak and reason which requires an action like a servant quietly serving the master. However, adults have the ability to speak which facilitates dialogue and discussion, but they don’t react like that. In meaningless groups they may make pointless arguments but in an appropriate forum for discussion, debate and agreement, they fall silent. They listen to others who have status and rank which is like a clamp on the tongues. Their faculty of reasoning is offline as if the power company has implemented loadshedding or a temporary blackout. In order to receive knowledge, the mind must be open and must be able to analyse and understand whatever is being communicated. Many people nod and respond as if they understood, but they understand little. They fear asking questions as if it is a crime to ask questions. Slowly, people have stopped asking questions altogether which is a part of the reason for the social degeneration. More importantly though, is the fact that people are even afraid to ask questions where certain matters may impact them directly. Along the way, this has resulted in the belief that people in authority are untouchable and/or infallible.

Of course, people are all at different levels of intelligence. Some may require a longer time to better understand certain issues, but the door for engagement must be open. It seems almost ludicrous that someone can walk into your house and claim it. However, if you are not trained to question, you may even accept that. It is about respectfully, but critically, assessing matters with questions and research, not high level academic necessarily, but at least some through reading. The brain should only switch off at death and should remain integral to your complete being. Do not follow blindly, be informed, be empowered.
