He raced forward with his goal firmly entrenched in his mind. Did his goal penetrate his heart? Well, that is a long story for those who truly wish to know. All we know, for now, is that he is determined to reach his goal. And for many that is seen as progress. But what is this thing called progress?
Progress is to move forward. Progress does not indicate the rationality or correctness of something. It merely indicates movement. A synonym is “advancement” and still that does not indicate absolutely correctness of the underlying reason or ultimate goal. There are many reasons for this while goals are also guided by aims and objectives. The old saying that “the grass is greener where you water it” hardly applies these days, at a time when artificial grass seems to be evergreen. He raced forward with his goal firmly in his mind except that what he saw and envisioned, was not what he really wanted. In his haste, he was overwhelmed by the green screen and not the reality that was to face him. Progress is not absolute except it means moving forward.
Of course, many will argue that progress means a step in the right direction. For each it may be true, but it is not absolutely true. Such arguments are beyond the scope of short notes or even commentary on social media. It does need deeper discussion. The most important of it all is how it applies to you. That is the key to getting a better understanding so that you can make the right moves. How and from where do you get your direction? Are you heading for a cul-de-sac or a cliff or a cage? Each of these has its own meaning, for you anyway. You need to consider your growth and development. You have a family that needs correct nurturing, relationships that need the bonds so that you grow together, a career that may need defining. All this require that your progress is meaningful and not artificial.
