It was an awesome race and you managed to beat the world record by mere second. In another scenario, as a student you wrote exams and scraped through by one mark. Your boss did not give you an adequate salary increase which almost sucked the life right out of you because you believed you deserved better. That is the difference between success near success and failure.
You may not realize your potential. As you approach the new year it is best that you take stock of what of you accomplished for the past year. You may have had some obstacles which prevented a perfect record or achieving a goal. That does not mean that you can be satisfied or not ready yourself to surpass the mark for this year. It is merely a chance to regroup and seek solutions for a new year with new goals and improved plans. If you only depend on yourself without seeking advice, without a researching, without the necessary reading, you will not have learnt much, if anything. It is necessary that for growth you must be learning. The only time you are allowed to give up on learning and growth is when you are dead. But you are alive, aren’t you? It is important that you continue to strive for improvement and that you set new goals, albeit, for some, small goals. At the least the result should be that you take a step forward. You may be more ambitious and reach new frontiers. As part of this development you should be an example for friends and family and perhaps the broader community. You have much to achieve yet. Irrespective of your bank balance or your status, your life only cannot be put on hold. You need to move forward.
The one thing you must promise yourself is that you will not look at others and only praise their achievements whilst you feel inadequate. You applaud others for their achievements and you strive yourself to reach new heights and new goals, even though others may not notice it. You will be better off and each small step is but a stepping stone to something much bigger. As long as you moving forward there is no saying what you can still achieve, so just go out there and do it already.
You are not entitled to a salary increase, you must know that you are deserving so everyone working must have that goal at least. You next examination you write you will strive to get at least another percentage point more, at least. If you are a runner then next year you will strive to achieve at least one personal best on a race. Whatever you do, be the one who looks to improve. Make time for fun for you need to relax as is necessary for you to be focused on being the best you can be. The next year will be the ideal year to get 2020 vision.
