The weather is changing, and the weather is a little nippy. A bee in my room suggested he was looking for some warmth. I will be careful and not be sexist but there is so much example from the bee that is relatable to us as humans.

Male bees are bigger than female bees but it is the female who does the work. Female bees are busy bees and generally buzz in a low humming sound when they work. The buzz went quiet in my room which led me to think that it may well be a male bee. The ceiling is high so I cannot really see too much detail. The female bees are essentially the workers. How often, I mean you always hear how females and essentially mothers are exceptionally busy, virtually non-stop. Much like the bee they are generally the ones cooking food and shopping of course. Bees do that too. So male bees are relatively quieter and are often outside the nest. In a way, there is a way to relate this to humans. Humans have a level of intelligence that makes them consider logic. Warning though: male and female logic do differ. Females are more emotionally wired and together with their generally talkative nature, can make it uncomfortable for the man. The man is often over “misunderstanding” within minutes, if not sooner. The emotive nature of women often can trigger the wrong response from the man. The man is happy to be quiet and is already onto his next thought. It could even be a blank thought though. However, when he is caught up in the sharing of emotions, he does indeed draw a blank. The response may then be random and not a considered reply. A man’s silence, most often, is just “I have nothing to say”. Men versus women: ‘Should this “silence” be enough’?

Sharing of tips on how to deal with these issues is important and couples do get a different perspective once they are aware. Alas, emotion does trump awareness anyway. And for the male, there is this thing called “forgetfulness”. The bee has been quiet for a while now. I will make time for him to have a session with me. Fortunately, male bees don’t sting.

So, what is the role of the male bee?
