Social development, improvement and cohesion revolve around common ground. At first, you will need to understand what are the building blocks of the community and society, at large. The statistics are going in the wrong direction, yet life carries on if it is normal. Society is disintegrating and nothing much is done to remedy the situation, but rather new harmful practices, ideas and norms are introduced and accepted.

The family unit is the building block of the community. Marriage and the family unit is not given the due care and consideration. Had it been really important, then more people will acquire the relevant knowledge and seek appropriate advice and counsel so that their marriage and family unit is strong. Imagine a neighbourhood with strong family units. Love and respect will emanate, and overall bonds will be stronger. Yes, you have to imagine this because, in the vast majority of cases, you will be living in a neighbourhood with many broken homes, single parent families and a whole host of other dysfunctionalities. There must a way and means to remedy this. With the right effort, matters can improve. But if you have not already found the solution for your own situation in your home, then you need to venture out and seek interventions and solutions. What will your legacy be when, instead of passing the baton on for a good life, you pass on fragments of a unit that is near impossible to fix. Troubled, difficult, stressed and challenged marriages must be addressed and ideal solutions found. Your family depends on your good marriage because a good family home, with love and respect, brings hope and light. A light to help others who perhaps have issues not to dissimilar to yours.

One positive way to contribute to society is to make your family a strong unit and an able building block for a well-knit community. Take the step that will benefit not only you, but your spouse, your family and your community. If you do not yet have the solution, then talk to someone who can assist.

Don’t wreck. Build.
