Do you find that a few wise words can be drowned out by the deluge of distraction of just about everything else?  In between you find information that seemingly suggests methods of success and you are impressed to the extent of engaging further. In an instant, wise guiding words become a distant memory as fantasy takes centre stage.

You are a mere product of the system that gushes forth like a strong torrent. It feels like that anyway. However, if you take the time to stand up on your feet, you can minimise the impact of this torrent. This system has impacted you in every way, from your spirituality, your education, your marriage and family life and, of course, your wealth. I say wealth but that is merely a relative statement, and the idea of wealth can be discussed in a future note. Few can claim that they were educated and trained by a specific person. Rather, it is an institution that likely did the educating. The role of parents has diminished because of their limited time as the system dictates long working hours so that bills and loans can be paid. The ability of the student to build a bond with the teacher and flourish has been taken away with teachers not spending more than a year with a student. When culture is imported it impacts further on identity.  People rip your marriage apart, sometimes thinking that they are doing the right thing for you but clearly basing their views on too many soapies and gossip sessions. Your choice of career is driven by potential income but not by a passion and/or principle. You partake in popularity contests so that you can be liked and accepted. And the faking becomes reality.

Being true to yourself means taking a good look at yourself, not from the viewpoint of others, but who you really are. Where there are shortcomings, it can be fixed to make you a stronger, better person for yourself. Remember, make-up washes away, but who you really are is all important.
