Have you ever wondered whether you have deep feelings? How do you express them or are there trigger events that expose them or bring them to the fore?

Have you ever wondered whether you have deep thoughts or are you capable of having or understanding deep thoughts? Have you ever wondered what or who fashioned your thoughts?

You may believe, albeit only subconsciously, that it is better to have shallow thoughts, ideas and feelings so it is easier to swat away anything that challenges you. Your formal education did not teach you about these matters. Rather, it is that your formal education set about ingraining certain core “facts” in your mind which were not to be challenged. The deep feelings you have is quite unique and centres around the real inner circle, the nearest and dearest. Even this can be difficult for some. This must be a cause for concern and alarm bells must be ringing. If you struggle with thoughts and feelings, then is not a part of your life mechanical? How do you grow when a part of you is not fully functional?

There is a concept called cognitive dissonance. Many people are even applying cognitive dissonance mechanically so that they minimise any trauma they experience from conflicting messages. Ultimately though, this barrier that is erected becomes so entrenched that there is no light, no oxygen, nothing beneficial coming through. Rather than embracing the concept of cognitive dissonance, rather upskill and learn to deal with ideas foreign to your understanding. Learning and growing is the healthier option, be it from a mental, physical or spiritual aspect. The alternative is likely damaging to the self. Your first step in overcoming this cognitive dissonance is to imbibe the essence of this note and take a step in the right direction. A step to remove the shackles and to seek freedom for yourself.

There is as deep discussion on the back of this all, but a good intention and small steps will go a long way in getting you to be a more complete you. This phenomenon applies to every aspect of your life, be it marriage, your everyday life, your career, your social life, your spiritual and religious side.
