You know you are unique if for no other reason that your fingerprints are solely yours. Of the billions of people living, of those who lived before and those still to come, no other fingerprint will match yours. Many lessons can be drawn from this, two of which need mention here. The first is that, by now, you know that you are unique, albeit in one aspect. The second is that while comparison to others may be relevant at time, it is relative. You are the same overall as the next person, excelling at some things and falling short on others.
Modern life has placed misnomers on very real issues such that life becomes superficial as you seek to be a superhero. It becomes a binary game of superhero or nothing. Applaud the success and humiliate the supposed failure. The purpose of life? Every quote and every saying bring with it a thousand interpretations. You interpret it in the way you were “educated” while your background also influences your thinking. You imbibe these quotes and sayings applying it like is really nothing more than screensavers or the artificial flavouring in food that has absolutely no nutritional value. Rather, it may even be bad for you. You incline to the quotes because it is a “pick me up”, a sugar boost or something more addictive. Quotes, taken out of context or if the dosage taken is not correct or it is merely a stimulant, may have side-effects or consequences. The shortcut answer to it all is to learn how to apply motivational quotes to your life. Indeed, how to apply the content of the quote to your life. In order to contextualise the concept, you can take the Latin phrase “nihil sed optimum” mean “nothing but the best” as a quote with a strong broad meaning. This phrase does not require nor desire comparison. The “best” refers to you always striving to do your best irrespective, if by others’ standards, you are average. This is the message to take forward. The message is to challenge yourself to be the best you can be.
There is work to be done. You may need a tad of remodeling, or you may just need reinforcement. Each situation is different. The best “you” does not compartmentalise your life in your philosophy, outlook and application.
