The trembling boy, clenching his fists, wide-eyed, murmurs in a soft, hardly audible grunt that everything is fine. You give him a high-five and you walk away. Probably not. You will know that this boy is in pain, in fear and you will seek to remove or minimise the fear and rebuild hope and revive the positive energy.

The heightened fear experienced by people, is playing havoc with their lives and it affects many others around fear-stricken people. Fear saps your energy, and you sink into hopelessness. The direct effects and side-effects are many, from a weakened immune system, erratic behaviour to the loss of mental focus. Your faith will certainly be tested. It gets to a stage when you become psychotic. This becomes a much bigger issue to resolve. Tweaking something to put it in place is quite different to having to unravel a ball of yarn and then keep it untangled and neat. This is the difference between seeking help early and waiting for someone to literally drag you in for professional assistance. No one is immune to fear, but just as a healthy and strong immune system can deal with sickness, a mental and spiritual immune system can deal with fear such that this fear is nothing more than momentary fear. Awareness is key. Resolve to deal with such external matters is key. Mental strength is key. Keeping the faith is pivotal. The detail in how to manage this situation may differ slightly from person to person depending on their levels of the key issues just mentioned. The strange thing about fear is that the only outcome from being fearful, is that you will be consumed by it and will be the cause of your condition post the event. Ah too deep. Just know that fear is the killer if fear is present and overwhelms you. If there is one thing that can be infectious, then it is fear. Negative energy is emitted as you lose all feeling in your body which then goes numb, sweat pouring out of every pore of your skin while your blood pressure is off the chart. This negative energy can easily be picked up by those around you and the emotional chord speeds up this process. This is the time to say, “get your act together and let’s get over this”.

Advice is one thing. But in assisting someone on this level, advice is not enough or not ideal. It is a process during which time an understanding must be reached. Denial of fear is like you thinking you have parked the issue but, in fact, it is running loose in your body causing injury and harm. Assessment is necessary. Your actions will, at some point, reveal it all unless you act to restore equilibrium to yourself.
