Everything you read is about you. Everything you hear is about you and everything you see is about you. But not everything is for you.

Imagine going to a restaurant with the widest variety of food, cakes and other desserts. Everything is free. Will you eat everything? Will you eat as much as you can? Is there a chance you will become so bloated that you will feel nauseous? You may consider that you want to exercise but you cannot get yourself up and out of the chair, if, by now, you have not already plonked yourself down on the couch? You understand that this is unhealthy eating and cannot be a good lifestyle. Healthy eating is important while you may still incline to nibble on something not too healthy from time to time. You remain keenly aware of your diet, practising restraint and spend wisely, being proactive, rather than possibly funding never-ending medical bills. At this point I must warn you that eating healthy is not the be all and end all solution for good health. Other factors include environment and taking care of your mental and psychological wellbeing. Fear is such a factor that can have many consequences. Nevertheless, the opening line of this blog suggests “everything is about you but not everything is for you”. This applies to the physical side but, often what is neglected is the mental and psychological side. In the same way that you cannot feast on food without limits, so too you cannot entertain all information coming your way, nor should you make it a necessary to gather information which is detrimental to your mental health. When you get drained mentally with useless information while you keep looking for that needle in the haystack, ultimately it will affect your health. Were you to go on a long hike, you will take a backpack and pack in what will be essential for you to comfortably carry you through the day. Of course, it is always easier if someone else carried your backpack or there is pre-arranged food at the destination. Why then would you collect gossip and other information about yourself which only weigh you down while you carry this baggage everywhere? You are hurting your back and are becoming susceptible to countless ailments. This is, without doubt, a health hazard. So, people want to gossip about you, they want to be nasty to you (perhaps in your absence so that a story about you flows from it). Why do you want to accept that burden? It is theirs, let them have it. You must focus on yourself and be the kind giving person. Accept gifts that bring joy but don’t grab a piece of dung and be upset about it. You grabbed it and the burden that comes with it. Travel light. It is about you and your health. Everything is about you. It is about you being the best, cleanest, healthiest and a humble person.

The humble person carries no baggage but rather soars to heights that you cannot imagine. While the saying goes “stay grounded, stay humble”, those are the people who who are elevated hence they reach lofty heights, but they don’t take their elevation as being superior in any way. Your health and wellbeing are enhanced by your humility.
