A house is forlorn and everyone who passes by, comments on it or perhaps says a prayer for the occupants inside the house. Little is it known that the occupants could be the happiest and most content people. It might actually also be the most decorated and modern house on the inside. What is there to judge when their story is actually on the inside.
Life has become one of billboards, screensavers, and wallpaper and then, the never-ending social media status updates. The life of the superficial (mind you there are those who use social media productively). It is like this now. People read headlines and not the content. People are attracted to the flashy, not the brilliant. While this programming has been systematic over a long period of time, the real results are as of it was part of creation. Propaganda trumps facts, propaganda trumps the truth. Modern life has become about judging the book by its cover. People are happy to bypass the detail, not even just the fine print. The consequences can be dire when you do not know what you are signing up for. Yet, this is what is happening globally. The propagandist has the ability to present the most awesome book cover. The truthful, factual one, can hardly feed himself and his cover looks like the forlorn house mentioned above.
Your outlook on life can be an indictment on you or it can show great character. The character of such a person is one of deep thought and critical thinking while there is genuine concern for his family, friends, and the community at large. He is knowledgeable on the detail for it is the inside that matters more than the outside. This character makes no room for being superficial. People fight causes without knowing the detail like puppets easily controlled by a puppeteer. You have a responsibility to yourself and your family, foremost, to be a true guide and then a teacher so that they can learn about true character. Imagine your children being led by the pied piper into the fire only because you took things for granted and they learnt this superficial nature from you.
True character is built through reflection, pondering and analysis in the firm belief of getting the best understanding and solution.
