There is much truth in the saying “clothes define a person”. As I am writing this, I am excluding many (with no offence intended), but this is written for you who have access to this and reading it.

To laze about is exactly that – to do little of importance. I will concede that sleep is important. Most, I know not all, wear specific sleepwear, pyjamas, pj’s, when sleeping. However, with you pretty much restricted to your home during this lockdown, you have seen little reason to get out of your PJ’s. That PJ’s are related to sleep has consciously left your thought process but subconsciously a new world has been created. You have become comfortable with being in this state. The longer the lockdown continues, the longer you will likely be in a state of slumber, of laziness and a new norm will have been created. You are in lockdown and you accept that term. A criminal, when confined to his home, will be deemed as being under house arrest. Your situation sounds familiar, but hey, you are under lockdown, not house arrest. That is all fine except that you have mentally come to accept your condition and you have become much less productive. I bet that had you been in an orange jumpsuit, you would have longed for your freedom. Your behaviour will be good, you will do more studies, helping other prisoners so that your parole application, as an exemplary prisoner, will be more solid. There will be productivity.

Your clothes define you. Your pyjamas, as your now main work clothes, have largely contributed to your lack of productivity (at least not close to optimum). Your pj’s are hypnotic; you are in an extended sleep mode. Your clothes define you. Add value to yourself and long for freedom. Don your orange jumpsuit and always be ready for parole. Be ready to conquer the world or at least make a difference to someone in upliftment, assistance, etc – even if that someone is you. Get out of your pj’s.

When this lockdown is over, you won’t necessarily be a prisoner of your home, but don’t be a prisoner of yourself, of the unproductive self you created during lockdown.

Thumbs up to you all who have been productive all this while.
