Life is always a breeze until a sudden gust of wind knocks you off balance. You are faced with shock, fear, anxiety, confusion and concussion or a combination of these and more. What happens next is repair work on a foundation that is not all that solidly built.
This is the reality of life, when you live on the excitement of life, it is like being on a high. A high that is not real but a delusion. You have to face facts and realise that you have not really trained for this and your body cannot take a knock like this. This is what people misunderstand by what life offers. You have cut corners to achieve something taking you to the next step. It is not your ability that is in question. It is more about what happens when you receive a sucker punch. Your fortitude. Do you drop down like a sack of potatoes or are you nimble enough to bounce back? Let’s not pull any punches. The outcome of the current pandemic will have some catastrophic consequences. Now, you may back your ability/ies but it is going to take more than your skills at your occupation. Rather, there is a whole new human element that will have a domino effect.
You, your family, the children and the neighbourhood will see changes. It is true that most people have only seen changes that showed progress. All of a sudden some heavy decisions have to be made. This is more so because you have neglected to assess life holistically. Starting with you, you have only looked at a particular skill-set for yourself. Your children are raised by a system in which you are, at best, a spectator. Can you now enter the playing field and be more involved? It is now a fight for survival and, unless you have you own oxygen mask, you cannot assist those around you. Fear leads to wrong decisions. Panic leads to wrong decisions. There is a reality. How will you face it?
In truth, people still talk to friends, family and neighbours about important decisions. That is all good if they can show you a map to plot your future. Make today count as the first day of the rest of your life – act wisely.
