Imagine being a traveller and journeying by car or horse and cart. Imagine that along the way you collect sizeable items which you cart along on your journey. This seems like a huge task and more burdening and certainly can neither be fun nor pleasurable in any way.
Life’s like that. When one considers life to be a journey then travelling light would be the way to go. Joy, happiness and being totally unstressed are the key ingredients to a smooth jou…rney. But no road is perfect and is often filled with bumps and potholes. Working our way through these treacherous paths without cursing every obstacle will help keep the heart calm and the mind peaceful to plot the best part forward. In life, people become obstacles through their malice and and their intent to cause harm, be it generally or whether specific people are targeted. Being bogged down by these people and their actions will wear you down and the journey will become less easy and may even grind to a halt.
Like one should not be blinded by the potholes neither should one allow the misdeeds of others to become a burden. Forgiveness is a cleanser, so let us forgive and move on while the heart is cleansed and focused on completing the journey in the easiest and best way possible.
Life has been designed with markers and if this is currently the start of a new year, then start off by leaving the baggage and burdens of a time past behind. Clear the books and write off others’ misdeeds as bad debts and clear the slate and make the year ahead profitable and pleasurable. It’s an undeniable fact that one is likely to encounter someone who intends something bad and, if we cannot avoid it (for whatever reason), pardon them (albeit only in your heart without announcing it) for the heart will feel the relief. The heart is the home of love (naturally we mean only good) and anything that stains it needs to be removed. Forgiveness is the perfect cleanser. It even stuns the one who continues to be intent on evil.
It’s not easy, but believe you me, you will feel the relief when you say enough times “I have forgiven so-and-so”.
