Immaculately dressed and keeping heads turning. Comments range from deserved praise to envying criticism. More cannot be easily gauged from the person dressed so stunningly while the general response can be summed up as awe-inspiring. How much is real and how much is a façade, few can tell. Is there a need to sometimes dress down so that others can get a glimpse of another side of you?

There is the private person and the public person. How much they differ and the reasons for it will depend on each person and the relevant influences. The thought crossing your mind is “at what point is it a façade, indeed at what point are you being fake?”.  This can happen at all levels of your life, there is the “private at home”, then the “private with close family and friends”, then something else with colleagues and then there is the broader public. If you dress attractively, you get the accolades, and when you are a little plain, you may get totally overlooked, while scruffy may get enough of a look to raise eyebrows and a disdainful look. But how we change our persona can be fairly evident in how we portray our relationships in public. Of course, ugliness from a bad relationship should not be displayed in public. However, is the converse applicable of showing beauty (in all its forms of love, kindness, compassion, understanding and of course personal presentation) in private even better than you show it in public. A big mistake, at times “fatal”, is comparing relationships. The most perfect couple in public may yet be the worse couple in private. Others who are always real, be it in public or private, may find their very normal behaviour not pleasing for the public eye. Yet, this couple is sincere and have magical love for each other running deep in their veins. Every relationship has its ups and downs. It does matter when you act on matters affecting the relationship, be it good or bad. At times like these where decisions are made at the wrong time, that marriages can become quite shaky, and the impact may be felt quite a while later.

Most marriages have their sad, difficult moments. Keeping it private, except for seeking genuine advice, is the better way. However, if your marriage does not include the basic ingredients, then difficult times become somewhat harder. There are little things you must always do in your marriage. Hearts bond better with physical touch, a hug, a kiss, and a caressing hand. Marriage is the ultimate test of relationships since it is as close as two people can be that are not directly linked in bloodline.
