The ideal foundation is one on which you can build a structure that can last a lifetime and more. It starts with the foundation, without taking away anything from the quality of the materials, the ability of the builder and the meticulousness of the designer, to build the perfect structure.
People used to joke on some of the quality of products coming from China, saying it doesn’t last long. Yet the greatest project that you can have is yourself from which you can provide a good foundation for your children and others. The reality is that you likely do not have a plan on which you can build your life. Sure, there is a semblance of a plan but most of it is made up as you go along. There is that notion of success which means different things to different people. Is success at the age of thirty the same as success at the age of fifty? Is success yours to decide or who gets to decide what success really is? Do you base your success on what you see in others and of others? Is then your success the same successful structure like the one on whom you based your idea of success? What about the foundations – are they the same? There is no criticism of you in what I am presenting, rather it is to suggest that life requires you to take into consideration two important components. The one component is that “pat on the back” (for whatever reason) which you may consider success. This is what you are actively engaged in now. That may be that your structure has won “house of the year”. The second component seeks to determine whether that structure will last beyond a year, two years or five years. The second component is your life itself. Few dare to examine this.
The reason for being. You are one or more of the following: a student, an employee, a team member, a spouse, a parent, an employer, team leader (at whichever level). Which part (of your life) are you perfect at or how fortunate are others to be part of your perfect life? Or just maybe, your structure needs restoration or a real plan.
