The word “thinking” has synonyms and meanings such as idea, judgment, logic, opinion, reasoning, understanding, cognition, contemplation, deliberation, introspection, meditation, musing, rationalisation, reason, reflection, rumination, study. I see my role as a life coach in harnessing your “thinking” to reflect some of these meanings. At the end of it is a way to balance your life a little bit at a time.
Everybody either has the answer to many a question affecting their life, or they know how and where to find it. The challenge though is to align the answer to the challenge, if there is one, or to apply it to your life just to make the ride (of life) less bumpy. The challenge for most people is courage. Courage is to have fear, but to take action anyway. The courage needed is to make the positive change in your life. The danger of not taking action is that your energy is exhausted digging a hole for yourself. On a lighter note, if someone else dug the hole for you, with the correct thinking, you will be alert enough to avoid the hole. It really does not matter what the challenge is, whether it is a challenge emanating from life itself or whether, through some dare or ambition, you accepted a particular challenge, your thinking is important. Some of you are thinking but the “challenge” is from my spouse, or my children, or my boss, how is my thinking going to change that. Of course, in family situations it is best to have the relevant parties present to synchronise the thinking, but while that is not always possible, the aim is always to minimise the negative impact of the challenge, and rather aim to rise above it with the correct thinking and application thereof. Likewise, with the employer situation, it must be what is best for you. Stress impacts over 70% of the workforce resulting in health conditions and medical bills. On another note, over the last few years, I have taken up road running, and most definitely the longer distances, marathons and ultra marathons specifically, present its own challenges to your thinking, both in preparation and on race day. It is all in the thinking.
No matter your situation, difficult situations can be improved, reasonable situations can be better. Peace, tranquillity, and contentment – at least one of these words should play a part in your life. Is thinking a noun, a verb or an adjective?
